Gloucester Friday 1st December 2006
The meeting was held in the very pleasant country park and leisure hotel that is the Hilton Puckrup hotel. With its own golf course and full leisure facilities, it made a very pleasant venue.
The meeting was hosted by SWOC President, Chris Curwen and his colleagues from Gloucester. A record number of 21 papers were on the programme which amazingly, ran to time.
The prize for Best Paper was presented to Lindsay Smith for her presentation on autologous retransfusion in primary THR.
The afternoon lecture was given by Professor Chris Colton, one of our former Pridie Memorial Lecturers, and now retired from Nottingham. He gave a very entertaining lecture on ‘Surgical Plagiarism’.
The xray quiz winner was Mr Arunkumar from Truro.
37 people stayed for the dinner which rounded of an excellent meeting both for its scientific content and, as usual for SWOC, its sociability.
Many thanks to Lorraine Elliott who organised the meeting for Chris.
